Synopsis
Traversing opens Ding Yi Music Company’s 2026/27 season with a bold statement of artistic direction—one that embraces music without borders. Conceived as a journey across cultures and traditions, the concert brings together diverse musical languages, reimagined through the sound-world of a contemporary Chinese chamber ensemble.
Led by Chief Artistic Mentor Tsung Yeh in his annual concert with Ding Yi, the programme foregrounds borderless collaboration between composers, soloists, and ensemble. The programme also includes Hungarian Rhapsody Op. 68 performed by Ding Yi cellist Bekhzod Oblayorov, and Guzheng Concerto: Goddess of the Luo River by Tang Jianping, with Ding Yi’s Yvonne Tay as soloist.
Award-winning pianist Ning An also joins the ensemble in Piano Concerto: Youth, a work imbued with youthful spirit and expressive vitality.
As the season-opening concert, Traversing sets the tone for the year ahead—worldly, curious, and inviting—positioning Ding Yi as a dynamic platform for cross-cultural exchange, where many worlds meet on one stage.
