Causeway Connection

Ding Yi Music Company proudly presents Causeway Connection, a dynamic concert celebrating the vibrant cultural flavours of Singapore and Malaysia. Presented as the invited closing concert for the sixth anniversary of the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House, the programme features a rich tapestry of Nanyang influences, bringing together composers, performers, and vocalists from both sides of the Causeway.

Conducted by Wong De Li, Dedric, the evening showcases a thrilling line-up of works — including Confluence by Young Artist Award recipient Wang Chenwei and Twinkling of Bonfire Night by Zhou Jia Ying — alongside iconic and contemporary pieces such as The Butterfly Lovers, performed by Kong Zhao Hui, and performances by international artist Alena Murang, the world’s first professional female sape’ player. She will perform Permung Jae, accompanied by Yvonne Tay on the guzheng and Fred Chan Hong Wei on the erhu, as well as the evocative Li Ling, with Tan Jie Qing on the yangqin — a work that reflects companionship by the river, a source of sustenance, memory, and life.
