Yvonne Tay

A recipient of the prestigious National Arts Council (NAC) Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate) 2015, Yvonne Tay is currently the full-time guzheng musician of Ding Yi Music Company and co-founder of Z3nith Ensemble, a trio comprising of guzheng graduates from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Tay was awarded the Best graduate and graduated with Bachelors of Music (first class honours) in 2017. She is currently the Secretary General of Singapore Qinzheng Association.

Under the tutelage of Mdm Yin Qun, Tay has taken part in many competitions, clinching the 1st prize at the 1st China-Japan-Korea International Guzheng Competition 2012 in Korea and the Silver Award at the 2nd International Zheng Competition 2011 in Hong Kong. At the National Chinese Music Competition organised by NAC, she has clinched the 1st prize in all guzheng categories - open (2010), youth (2006) and junior (2004). She was also the Grand Prize winner of NAFA-RAVE Chinese Music Concerto Competition in 2016.

Locally, Tay has performed as a featured soloist for the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games 2010. She was also invited to various recordings, composed by late Cultural Medallion winner Mr Iskandar Mirza Ismail. In 2017, Tay was invited to stage a solo recital by the Royal College of Music, London.

Tay was twice invited as a soloist to perform with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, performing guzheng concerto to rave reviews. In June 2013, she staged a sold-out joint soloist recital, Proteges of Brilliance, which was very well received by the audience.
